Blog Tour : Rock and a Hard Place By: Angie Stanton

Title: Rock and a Hard Place
Series: The Jamieson Collection #1
Author: Angie Stanton
Publisher: HarperTeen
Summary:
Perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen, Jenny Han, and Susane Colasanti, Angie Stanton's swoon-worthy romance--about an ordinary girl and a young rockstar--will keep readers on the edge of their seats . . . and leave them wanting more.

In an instant, Libby's life went from picture-perfect to a nightmare. After surviving a terrible car accident, Libby is abandoned by her father and left with her controlling aunt. A new town, a new school, no friends--Libby is utterly alone. But then she meets Peter.

The lead singer in a rock band with his brothers, Peter hates that his parents overly manage his life. Constantly surrounded by family, Peter just wants to get away. And when he meets Libby, he's finally found the one person who just wants to be with him, not the rock star.

But while Peter battles his family's growing interference in both his music andpersonal life, Libby struggles with her aunt, who turns nastier each day. Andeven though Libby and Peter desperately want to be together, their drastically different lives threaten to keep them apart forever.

My Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

My Thoughts;

I had this book on my kindle forever so I was definitely interested in finally getting around to reading it and having a chance to be on the tour definitely gave me a chance to fit this one into my schedule and it was everything that I was expecting it to be and definitely one of those books that I was just in the mood for a good old fashioned love story. Stanton created a cute and adorable story that I really enjoyed that wasn't without it's flaws but, kept me reading and definitely had me wanting to read the rest of the story because  I  enjoyed it so much.

Libby has not had an easy past few years of her life, after her mom and sister are killed in a car accident, her dad who is depressed and driven by grief leaves her in the care of her aunt who is not  someone who should be taking care of a child to say the least. Libby loves  drawing and spends her time in the forest drawing whatever she see's. A chance encounter happens  when a tour bus stops to have lunch and a chance encounter with a boy named Peter changes everything.

I will admit that the story did have a bit of insta-love but it didn't bother me, if you  are looking for a quick and cute YA romance this book is definitely up your alley, I feel in love with Libby and Peter and I couldn't wait to read more about the two of them.  I fell for Libby she was trying so hard and having to read about her life with her aunt made me so angry. Peter was devoted and adorable and I loved the two of them together.

Review: Crown Of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) By: Sarah J. Mass

Title: Crown Of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2)
Author : Sarah J. Mass
Published: August 27th, 2013
Buy the Book: Amazon/Barnes and Noble
Source : E-Galley from the publisher
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars!
Goodreads Summary:

An assassin’s loyalties are always in doubt.
But her heart never wavers.

After a year of hard labor in the Salt Mines of Endovier, eighteen-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien has won the king's contest to become the new royal assassin. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown – a secret she hides from even her most intimate confidantes.

Keeping up the deadly charade—while pretending to do the king's bidding—will test her in frightening new ways, especially when she's given a task that could jeopardize everything she's come to care for. And there are far more dangerous forces gathering on the horizon -- forces that threaten to destroy her entire world, and will surely force Celaena to make a choice.

Where do the assassin’s loyalties lie, and who is she most willing to fight for?
My Thoughts :

I loved Crown of Midnight just as much as Throne of Glass, I read it immediately after finishing Throne Of Glass so I am having a bit of time remembering specifically what happened in which book, but I will do my best.  I am so happy to say that Crown of Midnight  does not suffer from second book syndrome in my opinion. I felt like the plot was really furthered and it didn't sit like I feel some second books do and it made it even more enjoyable.

So much more was revealed about Celaena's past and who she was before she became an assassin. I loved learning more about her and because nobody in the book knew what you knew and I felt like I was in a on a secret, and I always enjoy that.  To the king Celaena is the perfect champion, killing on his orders and bringing back proof for him to see, but if you know anything about her you know that she doesn't follow anyone's orders but her own. There was so much more Chaol in this book and I am completely and totally in love with him. I really enjoyed the times where you felt like Celaena was just a regular girl and didn't have all of these responsibilities on her shoulders, she loved spending her new money on fancy clothes, I loved the way that Sarah described them.

Chaol and Celaena's relationship definitely progressed in this book and I loved every second of it, If the whole entire book was just the two of them interacting together I would have still loved it.  Chaol brought Celaena out of her shell and I loved that she let him in a bit and you got to see a different side of her and it made me able to connect with her more than in the first book.

Overall, I loved Crown of Midnight, although it didn't really end on a cliffhanger I  am still dying to read the next book because I am dying to know what happened and I can always use a bit more Chaol in my life. If you enjoyed the first book, then you will love this one.

Review: Pivot Point (Pivot Point #1) By: Kasie West

Title: Pivot Point (Pivot Point #1)
Author: Kasie West
Published: Feburuary 13th, 2013
Buy The Book: Amazon/Barnes and Noble
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars!
Source: Bought
Goodreads Summary:

Knowing the outcome doesn’t always make a choice easier . . .

Addison Coleman’s life is one big “What if?” As a Searcher, whenever Addie is faced with a choice, she can look into the future and see both outcomes. It’s the ultimate insurance plan against disaster. Or so she thought. When Addie’s parents ambush her with the news of their divorce, she has to pick who she wants to live with—her father, who is leaving the paranormal compound to live among the “Norms,” or her mother, who is staying in the life Addie has always known. Addie loves her life just as it is, so her answer should be easy. One Search six weeks into the future proves it’s not.

In one potential future, Addie is adjusting to life outside the Compound as the new girl in a Norm high school where she meets Trevor, a cute, sensitive artist who understands her. In the other path, Addie is being pursued by the hottest guy in school—but she never wanted to be a quarterback’s girlfriend. When Addie’s father is asked to consult on a murder in the Compound, she’s unwittingly drawn into a dangerous game that threatens everything she holds dear. With love and loss in both lives, it all comes down to which reality she’s willing to live through . . . and who she can’t live without.

My Thoughts:

I was so excited to read this one, earlier this year I read Parallel By: Lauren Miller which is another  parallel universe book that I loved and I hoped that I would love this one just as much. I was a bit surprised with how the story began because I wasn't expecting it but, I really enjoyed it. I have dreamed of having the option to look into my future and see how a decision effects my life. Kasie West created a great story and I was never confused as to which parallel world we were visiting, I loved that she labeled each chapter with a word that contained Normal or Para, so you knew which world you were visiting.

Addison has spent her whole life living in Texas in the Compound, a secret community that each person in the compound have a power of the mind. Addie's power is she is a Searcher, she can look into the future when she is making a decision and see where it takes her in the future. When Addie's parents sit her down and inform her that they are getting divorced, she needs to decide who she wants to live with. Her mother is going to be living in the Compound and her Dad was going to go live in the "Norm" world. Addie does a search 6 weeks into the future to see which parent she wants to live with and it was more adventurous then she could have ever expected.

I loved Addie and I really enjoyed watching her navigate the normal world and the world of the compound. When Addie was in the  normal world she was really trying to find out who she was, she never knew who she was without what her power was. Living in the compound  she was always defined by her ability and in the normal world she didn't know who she was without being able to tell people  about her power. Addie meets Trevor, a normal boy who is an artist, he draws comic books and he really understands her, she is taken in my him and his group of friends, she and Trevor become very close and with her time in the normal world and by being friends with Trevor, she uncovers a mystery that she might have never found without being in the normal world. Her other life in the compound she is pursued by the quarterback of the football team and the hottest guy in school Duke. I am definitely on team Trevor, there was something about Duke that I never really liked and I always very wary of him and I never completely trusted him throughout the entire book.

Overall, Kasie West was a great storyteller. She gave us two stories in one and I loved that. I never got bored and I loved getting to see two different sides to Addie. But, I definitely loved Addie and the normal world with Trevor the best.

Darkest Fear (Birthright #1) By: Cate Tiernan

Goodreads Summary:

Vivi’s animal instincts are her legacy—and maybe her downfall—in this start to a romantic fantasy series that will appeal to fans of The Nine Lives of Chloe King.

Vivi has known the truth about her family—and herself—since she was thirteen. But that doesn’t mean she’s accepted it. Being Haguari isn’t something she feels she’ll ever accept. How can she feel like anything but a freak knowing that it’s in her genes to turn into a jaguar?

Now eighteen, Vivi’s ready to break away from the traditions of her heritage. But all of that changes with the shocking, devastating deaths of her parents and the mysteries left behind. Vivi discovers family she never even knew she had, and a life open with possibility. New friends, new loyalties, and even romance all lay ahead—but so do dangers unlike anything Vivi ever could have imagined.

Being Sloane Jacobs By: Lauren Morrill
Goodreads Summary:'

Meet Sloane Emily Jacobs: a seriously stressed-out figure-skater from Washington, D.C., who choked during junior nationals and isn’t sure she’s ready for a comeback. What she does know is that she’d give anything to escape the mass of misery that is her life.

Now meet Sloane Devon Jacobs, a spunky ice hockey player from Philly who’s been suspended from her team for too many aggressive hip checks. Her punishment? Hockey camp, now, when she’s playing the worst she’s ever played. If she messes up? Her life will be over.

When the two Sloanes meet by chance in Montreal and decide to trade places for the summer, each girl thinks she’s the lucky one: no strangers to judge or laugh at Sloane Emily, no scouts expecting Sloane Devon to be a hero. But it didn’t occur to Sloane E. that while avoiding sequins and axels she might meet a hockey hottie—and Sloane D. never expected to run into a familiar (and very good-looking) face from home. It’s not long before the Sloanes discover that convincing people you’re someone else might be more difficult than being yourself.
