Blog Tour: Taut (Ford Book) By: J.A. Huss Review and Giveaway

Title: Taut (Ford Book)
Author: J.A. Huss
Published: January 20th, 2014
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Goodreads Summary:

Since A LOT of people have been asking here is the scoop on how this book fits in with my Rook & Ronin series: Ford first appears in Rook and Ronin #2, Manic. He has a bigger role in Panic, R&R #3, and then he has a novella, called SLACK. This TAUT book is only FORD. It's not really part of the R&R series, as that plot has all been sidelined for this one romance book.

Ford Aston is known for many things. Being an emotionless, messed up bastard, a freakishly smart social outcast, and a cold, domineering master who keeps "pets" instead of girlfriends.

And after Rook broke his heart, he plans to keep it that way.

Ashleigh is known for nothing, and that's exactly what she's got going for her. She's broke, stranded in the mountains with a three month old baby, and Ford Aston is screwing with her head.

Big. Time.

And she plans to mess with his right back.

It's a coy game at first, filled with flirting, and innuendo--but Ford soon realizes something is not quite right with Ashleigh. In fact, something is seriously, seriously wrong and the closer they get to their final destination, the closer Ford gets to the truth.

One night of devastation, self-loathing, and emptiness turns into the best thing that ever happened to Ford Aston. But one day of in-your-face reality threatens Ashleigh's whole existence

My Thoughts:

I was definitely so curious to start this book, Ford has always been one of those characters that I was curious about how Ford was going to be as a main character and whether or not I would enjoy reading about him because I haven’t loved his character throughout the series.
You can’t help but feel for Ford,  reading this book you finally get to be insdie of his head. He was so interesting to get to know because the way he acts is not how he really is on the inside which is what made me fall in love with his character. You learn so much about him that really explains why he is the way he is and what made him that way, and his reasons behind it. I definitely changed my mind about him because he made me fall in love with him slowly.

Ashleigh was exactly what Ford needed at the time, although on the one hand I wasn’t sure if she could handle him but, she was definitely more than I expected. She came with a lot of baggage and I loved getting to see Ford’s reactions to her and how unexpected he reacted to her not at all like I expected him to.

Overall, Taut was a great spin-off I loved getting to know Ford and it really changed his character in my eyes!

J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label).

She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really–Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master’s degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.

  1. Great review, Kristin! Ashleigh sounds like another great addition to this series! I'm glad you liked it I have to catch up and read this one soon, too!

  2. Ford went from "that weird guy" in Manic to "I love him" in Panic and "I want to have his book babies" in Taut. Swoon! He evolved as a character for sure! I loved Ashleigh for him too. She was JUST what he needed.
