My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Goodreads Summary:
Two years
after her best friend was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic
brain injury, Lottie Anders is ready to start her freshman year of college. Ready
to move on. Ready to start forgetting the night that ripped her life apart.
Her plans come to a screeching halt when not one, but both brothers responsible for the accident end up back in her life again.
Zack is cruel, selfish and constantly rubbing what happened to her friend in Lottie's face.
Zan is different. He listens to her awkward ramblings. He loves "To Kill a Mockingbird" as much as she does, and his dark eyes are irresistible. His words are few and far between, but when he does speak, she can't help but listen.
The trouble is, Zan was the driver in the accident, and now Lottie's discovered he lied to her about what happened that night. Now she must decide if trusting him again will lead to real forgiveness, or deeper heartache.

My Thoughts:
I have to
admit that I haven't really gotten into the New Adult craze, I don't know
why but, not many of the books have
caught my eye and made me want to read them. But, I decided to read Deeper We
Fall and I am so glad that I did, it was
amazing, and I can finally say I do see what the New Adult craze is all
about. Cameron created a great group of characters, I felt like I knew exactly
who each of them was and I cared about each one and enjoyed reading
about them all.
Lottie is
ready for a fresh start and it still stings that she isn't going off to college
with her best friend Lexie. Her anger towards Zack and Zan was completely
understandable and her initial reactions to seeing the two of them at her
college where she is supposed to be
starting over is heartbreaking. To make matters worse her new roommate Katy
is dating Zack and she can 't escape her own feelings of anger and worry for
what he might be able to do to her. Lucky enough for Lottie she isn't on her
own, her twin brother Will and his best friend Simon are also going to college
with her and they are there for her every step of the way giving her strength
and keeping her sane. As her college life begins and she makes new
friends, she is also faced with the facts that Zan isn't the
monster she once thought he was, she is
running into him everywhere and she blames him completely for the accident but,
he won't fade into the background so easily.
I really
enjoyed watching the romance unfold in this story, although it was predictable
where the story was going it didn't take
away from watching it happen. Cameron
has taken all of these characters who are broken and weaved a beautiful tale of
forgiveness, change, and happiness. Each character is so much more then what
they seem on the surface and peeling
back all of the layers and finding out
who they are along with them was so much fun.
One of my favorite parts of the story was
watching Lottie and all of these people
who are thrown together become a family.
Each secondary character was made important to me, I cared about each of them
as much as Lottie did, I wanted them to find love and happiness, I also wanted
to be a part of their friendships. When
I look at characters in any of the books I read, the marks of a good book for me are when I
want to become friends with the characters and climb into the book and become a
part of their lives. I could not put the book down and really felt each and
every character. I don't want to go into too much detail about each of the characters
because half the fun was learning about each of them.
Overall,
Deeper We Fall was a great introduction to the New Adult genre for me and I am
definitely becoming a fan. I love the
fact that NA doesn't stray from my love of YA in the idea that it still deals
with firsts for the characters just a
more mature perspective. The second book
in this series is called Faster We Burn, and is a companion to this one, it
deals the story of Lottie's roommate Katy and another character we meet
Stryker, I cannot wait to check it out, Cameron is definitely an author that I
will be looking forward to reading more from!

Purchase: Amazon / Barnes and Noble
Goodreads Summary:
Katie Hallman is done
with douchebags. Done with guys who treat her like crap and leave her
broken. But then Stryker Grant is there anyway. With his numerous
piercings and bleached hair, he’s the polar opposite of all of her past
relationships, which makes him the perfect candidate.
At first, Katie just sees him as a physical escape from her previous rocky relationship, and Stryker doesn’t seem to mind just being a distraction from Katie’s problems. But soon he’s getting under her skin, peeling back layers she’d rather keep covered. She tries to make it clear that she doesn’t want a relationship, but keeps breaking her own rules.
Then a tragedy sends Katie into the only arms who are there to catch her, and she’ll realize that she needs him more than she ever thought possible. But is she ready to let herself trust another guy with her already-battered heart? Or will she push him away to protect herself from getting hurt again?
