Summary :
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle
that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal,
her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist
named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's
story is about to be completely rewritten.
My Thoughts:
I
definitely had a good idea was I was getting into when I started this one
considering it is one of the most popular books in YA since it was released I
definitely had high hopes for this one. My expectations were definitely met, I
felt all of the feels and I made the mistake of reading the end of this book
right before I had to go to class and I think that everyone thought I was a
little crazy because I felt like my heart had been ripped out and I definitely
think that I ugly cried. I didn't know what to expect with John Green's writing
and at first the hyper intelligent banter threw me off a little but, once I got
into it I really enjoyed it. There has been very few times that I have felt
like I knew an author's personality before I have read their books, I am a huge
fan of John's vlogs and I felt like his writing really fits him.
I
am not going to summarize this one because I know so many people have read this
one so I am just kind of going to talk about what I felt and what I enjoyed.
Hazel's character was just someone that I wanted to be friends with, she was
one of those people that made me think and feel. Green's writing for her was
just perfect. I loved that she had a
favorite book that she had read over and over again. I also loved that she felt just like me
sometimes, she couldn't handle the ending of her favorite book she had to know
what happened to her characters because of the way the author ended it. I definitely
could relate and I feel that way with so many books that I read but , I usually
just want to know everything about their futures and how their lives turn out.
Now
onto Augustus, I loved him sooo much, he was perfect for Hazel. He made me
smile and I just love how much he cared about Hazel. The banter between the two
of them made me smile and just thinking
about what he did for Hazel makes me tear up all over again, he really brought
out my feels and I really felt like he was a perfectly written character. He
never took himself too seriously and he
was stronger than I ever believed that he could be.
Overall,
John Green wrote an amazing story. Yes I was hesitant to read this one because
it was a cancer book but, it was so much more than that. I am definitely
looking forward to reading more of his books and I can only imagine that he has
more amazing characters just like these two. Now having said all that I
honestly don't think Green's writing will be for everyone and despite the
popularity of The Fault In Our
Stars, I know people might not be
able to enjoy the hyper intelligence of the characters in this one.

I loveed this book! It was so cute and funny and sad and heartbreaking and amazingg! I recently read Let it Snow which is a collection of three stories by three YA authors and John Green is one of them. I quite enjoyed it and John Green's section is definitely the best. It's a Christmas read so you should read it this winter :D
