Title: The Body Finder (The Body
Finder #1)
Author: Kimberly Derting
Published: March 16th, 2010
My Rating: 4 out 5 stars
Goodreads Summary:
Violet
Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret
ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her
best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to
sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a
little girl, she has felt the echoes that the dead leave behind in the world...
and the imprints that attach to their killers.
Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find the dead birds her cat had tired of playing with. But now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.
Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet on her quest to find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved to find herself hoping that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer... and becoming his prey herself.

My Thoughts:
The Body
Finder was such a great read, it was the perfect book for someone like me. It
was a mix of mystery, romance, and paranormal. The romance was believable and
perfect. The mystery had me engaged and I couldn't wait to find out what
happened next. Everything that I could have asked for in a book was in this
one.
Violet Ambrose is not your average teenage girl,
she has a ability to find dead things,
animals and humans alike and she has been doing it all her life. She can
feel the echo of a dead body that has been left behind and she can't rest until
it has been properly buried. Until a serial killer is one the lose and begins
killing girls around her town, Violet's gift has always been a secret and she
has never used it for anything like that
but, how can she have an ability like this and not use it. Violet has been best
friends with Jay Heaton for all of her life but, over the summer Jay has
definitely grown up and she can't remember when she started feeling different
towards him, her and pretty much every girl in her school has been swooning
over Jay and Violet is so confused about what she is going to do with her feelings for her best friend.
I absolutely
loved Violet, she was just a great YA character, I really related to her and
remembered feeling just like she did when I was a teenager. My other favorite
aspect to this book was Jay and Violet
and their relationship, it was genuine and real, watching them sort through all
of the changes that their relationship was going through. It made the romance
feel real instead of insta-love which always makes me happy. The mystery aspect
had me drooling over this book because I have to admit that I am addicted to
crime shows, the reality ones and the Law and Orders, and CSI's. It was creepy
and suspenseful but, not too scary because I can't handle too creepy.
Overall, this was an awesome start to a great series,
the ending was perfect because it wrapped up everything but definitely gave you
the ideas of where it will be going and I can't wait to start the next book!

Good review. I should start this series too.
ReplyDeleteI loved the creepiness of the book and I believe we got some chapters from the perspective of the murderer (am I remembering it right that that's this book?), which only added to the tension.
ReplyDeleteI liked this book too, but I guess not as much as you did :P
ReplyDeleteThough the books get a lot better later on. I absolutely loved the third one, The Last Echo, and I can't wait to read Dead Silence!
I liked Violet and Jay's relationship too. Great review, and I hope you enjoy the sequel! Thanks for stopping by my blog :)
