Blog Tour: Manic (Rook and Ronin #2) By: J.A. Huss Review and Giveaway!

Title: Manic (Rook and Ronin #2)
Author: J.A. Huss
Published: August 1st, 2013
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars!
Goodreads Summary:

TRAGIC is over and Rook is ready for the future—Spencer Shrike and the STURGIS contract!

It’s three months of body art modeling! That means three months of Spencer Shrike’s paintbrush all over her body, three months in front of Antoine’s camera, and three months of twenty-four hour filming for Spencer’s Biker Channel reality show.

Wait a minute…what reality show? Maybe she should’ve read that STURGIS contract a little closer? ;)

Sure, Rook’s bank account is almost overflowing, but Ronin is angry, Clare is trying to escape rehab, Antoine is a worried mess, and Elise is just trying to hold everyone together. Her new family is about to fall apart before she even gets the chance to enjoy them.

Add in a mysterious man from her past, a road trip to the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, and a final show in front of the entire world where all her goods are on display, and you’ve got Manic—a new adult contemporary romance that will definitely make your summer sizzle!

My Thoughts:

I was so excited to read Manic, I absolutely loved Tragic and I could not wait to read some more of Rook and Ronin. Huss did a great job with this book and I enjoyed it even more then the first, the body art modeling was so fascinating and she had my head swimming with visions of the awesome pieces that Spencer created for Rook. I am already dying to read the last book!

Manic picks up right where Tragic left off, Rook is dealing with the aftermath of her quick decision when she signed the contract to work with Spencer Shrike and his motorcycle shop. When she signed the contract she didn't really think her decision through or read the contract, along with the body art modeling she was also going to be followed around by cameras for a reality show that they are filming for the Biker channel. On top of all this Ronin is not happy with her for taking the contract in the first place and on top of all this her new family is dealing with Antoine's niece in rehab.

Rook and Ronin are just as steamy as ever, which is one of things that I love about this books. Rook is beginning to heal through the book and move her life forward, she is ready to look towards the future and find out what she wants to do with her life and who she wants to be. She is learning to take life one day at a time and enjoy every moment, the chapters alternate between Rook and Ronin which was awesome because I loved being in both their heads and seeing how each of them interpreted situations differently and what was important to them. I really felt like Rook's character became so much stronger in this book and she became very close with Spencer and also a friend from Ronin and Spencer's past Ford. Now Ford he was such a hard character to read for most of the book until his character was finally explained. I never quite understood his intentions and I was always skeptical of him but, he was a really great friend to Rook and  he put so much of his effort into helping her heal and move towards closure for the things that happened to her in her past.

Back to the body art modeling, Huss did an amazing job from her descriptions I could picture exactly how Rook looked and it sounded amazing, spending the whole summer modeling with these different motorcycles in these creative designs sounded awesome I almost wanted to be a part of it myself.

What really set this one above the first in my opinion it had everything, the romance, the steaminess, action, heartbreak, and rising above it all. I was just really satisfied with this one, the book felt so meaty and layered in a good way of course and I can't wait to see what J.A. Huss comes up with for the third book Panic!

AUTHOR BIO

J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label).

She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really–Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master’s degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.
