Review: The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines #4) By: Richelle Mead

Title : The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines #4)
Author : Richelle Mead
Published : November 19th, 2013
Source: Bought
My Rating: All of the stars!
Goodreads Summary:

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets - and human lives.

In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her. . . .

But the struggle isn't over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there's still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure — and re-education — looms larger than ever.

Pulses will race throughout this smoldering fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where no secret is safe.

My Thoughts :

I think that I recall saying that Indigo Spell was my favorite book in the series so far but, Fiery Heart is definitely my new favorite so far… My favorite thing about reading Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy was the character growth, I love seeing how far each character has come and how much they have changed. Sydney is one of those characters who has changed immensely from when we first met her in the Vampire Academy series. She has really changed her entire upbringing and way of thinking while on this assignment and each book I come to love her character just a little bit more because in the beginning I wasn’t sure she was a MC I could enjoy. I cannot wait for Silver Shadows, July can’t come soon enough!

Sydney has finally accepted that the Alchemists are not who she believed them to be and she knows that no longer shares the beliefs that have been instilled into her for her whole life. But, a wrench has been thrown into the mix, her sister Zoe is now assisting her and it is making everything in Sydney’s life that much harder, she has to hide everything from her sister so that she doesn’t know how she really feels but, she is torn about it.  She wants to spend more time with her sister and become closer with her but, it’s not easy for her to hide all of the secret parts of her life from her. We really got most of the focus on Sydney and Adrian in this book with most of the secondary characters taking a backseat to them, which I didn’t mind one bit.

I feel bad saying this but, I can’t remember if we got Adrian’s POV in the last book although I don’t think that we did. I must say that when I compare this dual POV to Allegiant I must say that Richelle Mead did an amazing job but, I feel like Adrian has such a distinct voice that anyone who knows his character would not be able to doubt that it was him. I loved getting to be inside his head so much. He has probably changed just as much as Sydney has from a partying playboy to a more tame art student. I really felt like we got more insight into who Adrian is and it just made me love him even more (if that is even possible) He and Sydney’s relationship was another aspect of the story that just made it amazing. I loved seeing the two of them together they are really the definition of opposites attract, Adrian was really falling for her and it was just so adorable. We got to see Adrian realize that he was changing and becoming mature and Sydney was not like any of the other girls he had been with before even Rose. They had to live on stolen moments together which I think made their relationship even more special to them and the reader we didn’t get everything we wanted when we wanted it.

Overall, The Fiery Heart was everything I wanted it to be and more, it was what I had been waiting for since the ending of Indigo Spell. I have a feeling that Silver Shadows is going to be giving us all of the feels and not all of them happy one’s. Richelle Mead has proved again why she is my favorite author and gave me so much Sydrian action that I was satisfied for a minute lol. If you love these characters, definitely read this one because you will not be disappointed.

  2. I just finished VA series and not sure if I want to start Bloodlines. I'll probably take a break before I do. I just want to make sure that it's something new and at the same time has aspects from the beginning of the VA series that I loved so much.
