Title: Undeadly (The Reaper Diaries #1)
Author: Michelle Vail
Published: November 20th, 2012
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Goodreads Summary:
The
day I turned 16, my boyfriend-to-be died. I brought him back to life. Then
things got a little weird...
Molly Bartolucci wants to blend in, date hottie Rick and keep her zombie-raising abilities on the down-low. Then the god Anubis chooses her to become a reaper-and she accidentally undoes the work of another reaper, Rath. Within days, she’s shipped off to the Nekyia Academy, an elite school that trains the best necromancers in the world. And her personal reaping tutor? Rath. Who seems to hate her guts.
Rath will be watching closely to be sure she completes her first assignment-reaping Rick, the boy who should have died. The boy she still wants to be with. To make matters worse, students at the academy start turning up catatonic, and accusations fly-against Molly. The only way out of this mess? To go through hell. Literally

My Thoughts:
This book is
the beginning of such a fun series, and it kicked off with a great start! I was
so excited to read this one. I have been dying to read a book with zombies and
this one fit in perfectly, add in a little Egyptian mythology and I was hooked.
Molly is your normal teenage girl, except that
her dad runs a shop where they make zombies and she is recruited by the Egyptian
god of the dead. Molly was the epitome of a teenage girl, the writing was perfectly
fit to how I would think that some (not all) teenage girls would talk. The
writing wasn't too old or dry it was just perfect and it really gave me a great
view of Molly and who she is.
I was
totally fascinated with the Egyptian mythology, one because I haven't read a
book with this type of mythology in it yet, and I love a book that has this
aspect in it. It was really interesting for me to get to learn more about it
especially because I wasn't familiar with it before. This just added to the
book and kept me wanting to know what happened next without weighing the book
down with too much of it.
Overall,
this book had so many unique paranormal aspects that I hadn't read about yet
which I really enjoyed, getting to learn about all of these new types of characters
with powers and new creatures that I hadn't read about over and over just made
me enjoy it that much more. If you are a
fan of paranormals and zombies, then this one you will definitely enjoy!
